New Mazda CX-70

Mazda is making waves with its premium SUVs. Named the Best SUV Brand of 2024 by U.S. News and World Report, Mazda is gaining well-deserved recognition for the style, tech, comfort, and safety of its new SUV lineup. You may have seen Mazda SUVs while out and about in the Clarksville area, and if you’re ready to make one of these models your own, we’re here to help. Below, we’ve listed highlights of each Mazda SUV so you can determine which is right for you. Once you’re ready, come down to Wyatt Johnson Mazda to experience these models in person.

Mazda SUV Models

Mazda CX-30

The Mazda CX-30 is a crossover SUV with seating for five. It starts at the lowest price point of this lineup. A 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine comes standard, but if you want more power, you can upgrade to a trim that features the 250-horsepower, 2.5-liter Dynamic Pressure turbo engine. The CX-30 is light and agile, ideal for navigating city streets. Behind the second row, there are 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and you can fold the second row down to create up to 45.2 cubic feet of cargo space.

Mazda CX-5

The next step up in size and cost is the Mazda CX-5. This sleek crossover also seats five, and it’s the brand’s main compact SUV. Its engine options are similar to those of the CX-30. You’ll have slightly more room to spread out in this model, and there’s more cargo space, too: 30 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 58.1 cubic feet with the rear seats down. (There’s also a floorboard that can be lowered to increase that number to 59.3 cubic feet).

Mazda CX-50

New Mazda CX-50

The Mazda CX-50 is similar to the CX-5 (hence their nearly identical names), but the CX-50 is designed to draw in outdoor adventurers. It’s longer and lower to the ground and features different exterior design elements than the CX-5. The CX-50 can be equipped with a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter engine with twin-scroll turbo that allows it to tow up to 3,500 pounds* (1,500 pounds more than the CX-5). It has 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up and 56.3 with the seats down.

Mazda CX-70

The Mazda CX-70 takes things up a notch. It’s also a five-seater, but this model is classified as a midsize SUV, as it’s longer and has more overall passenger volume than the CX-50. It features a mild hybrid powertrain composed of a small electric motor alongside a 3.3-liter inline 6 turbo engine capable of 280 horsepower. For a sustainability boost, you can purchase a plug-in hybrid version of the CX-70. This PHEV can either run on pure electric power (for up to 26 miles) or a gas/electric combo for longer trips.^ There’s 39.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 75.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Mazda CX-90

The CX-90 is the largest on this list. Three rows offer plenty of room for passengers when you need it, and when you need to transport cargo instead, you can lay the seats flat to reveal 75.2 cubic feet of space. The purely gas-powered version comes with a 3.3-liter turbo inline 6 engine. If you’d prefer the PHEV version, you can enjoy this spacious model with a combined 56 MPGe.**

Mazda SKYACTIV Technology: Engineering Efficiency Without Compromise

Mazda has long been known for its dedication to driving pleasure, and with the introduction of SKYACTIV® Technology, the brand has taken that commitment to a whole new level. This innovative suite of engineering advancements transforms everything from the engine and transmission to the chassis and body structure, all with one goal: to deliver exceptional performance and fuel efficiency without sacrificing the thrill of the drive. If you're considering a Mazda upgrade, be sure to check out our latest Mazda specials to find the perfect model equipped with SKYACTIV Technology. more Key Points Holistic Engineering for Performance and Efficiency: SKYACTIV Technology optimizes every component—from engine and transmission to chassis and body for a responsive, fuel-efficient, and thrilling drive. Innovative Powertrain Design: The SKYACTIV-G engine uses high compression ratios to deliver strong torque, reduced emissions, and excellent fuel economy, while the SKYACTIV-Drive transmission blends smooth shifting with sporty performance. Real-World Benefits and Driver Appeal: Mazda vehicles with SKYACTIV consistently rank among the most fuel-efficient in their class, offering a smart choice for drivers who value both savings and driving enjoyment. What Is Mazda SKYACTIV Technology? SKYACTIV is Mazda’s holistic approach to vehicle design, focusing on optimizing every component for maximum efficiency and responsiveness. From lighter, stronger body structures to precision-tuned suspensions, SKYACTIV vehicles are engineered to feel nimble and connected to the road. But the real magic lies under the hood, where Mazda’s proprietary engines and transmissions work in harmony to deliver a dynamic driving experience. Mazda SKYACTIV-G: Power Meets Efficiency At the heart of this technology is the Mazda SKYACTIV-G engine—a high-compression gasoline engine that defies conventional limitations. By increasing the compression ratio to 13:1 (or higher in some models), Mazda achieves more complete combustion, which translates to more power and fewer emissions. The result is a responsive engine that delivers impressive torque and acceleration while maintaining excellent fuel economy. Whether you're navigating city streets or cruising on the highway, SKYACTIV-G ensures your Mazda performs with precision and purpose. What Does SKYACTIV Do on a Mazda? You might be wondering, What does SKYACTIV do on a Mazda? In short, it enhances every aspect of the driving experience. The SKYACTIV-Drive transmission combines the best features of conventional automatic, continuously variable, and dual-clutch systems to deliver smooth, direct shifts. Meanwhile, the SKYACTIV-Body and SKYACTIV-Chassis are designed to reduce weight without compromising safety, improving both handling and fuel efficiency. Together, these innovations create a vehicle that feels agile, responsive, and remarkably efficient. Is SKYACTIV Better Than CVT? While continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) are known for their fuel efficiency, they often lack the engaging feel of traditional gear shifts. Mazda’s SKYACTIV-Drive transmission offers a more natural and connected driving experience, with crisp shifts and minimal lag. It delivers the fuel-saving benefits of a CVT while preserving the sporty feel that Mazda drivers love. For those who value both performance and efficiency, SKYACTIV is a compelling alternative. Mazda Fuel Economy: Real-World Savings One of the standout benefits of SKYACTIV Technology is its impact on Mazda fuel economy. Thanks to its lightweight design and efficient powertrain, Mazda vehicles consistently rank among the most fuel-efficient in their class. Whether you’re driving a compact Mazda3 or a spacious CX-5, you’ll enjoy fewer stops at the pump and more time on the road. This makes Mazda a smart choice for commuters, road-trippers, and eco-conscious drivers alike. Experience SKYACTIV for Yourself Ready to see how SKYACTIV Technology transforms the driving experience? Schedule a test drive or book a service appointment to explore the benefits firsthand. Our team at Wyatt Johnson Mazda is here to answer your questions, help you order genuine Mazda parts, and guide you through every step of ownership. Scary Car Noises and What They Mean

We've all been there — you're driving along, enjoying a smooth ride, when suddenly, your car makes a noise that sends a chill down your spine. From grinding to whining to clunking, scary car noises are your vehicle's way of crying out for help. Ignoring them can lead to costly repairs or even dangerous breakdowns. Fortunately, knowing what those sounds mean and when to seek professional help can keep your car running safely and smoothly. If your vehicle's been talking to you lately, it might be time to schedule a service appointment before a small issue turns into a major headache. more 1. What Causes a Grinding Sound When I Brake? One of the most alarming sounds you might hear is a grinding noise when applying the brakes. This typically indicates that your brake pads are worn down to the metal, and they're now grinding directly against the rotors. Not only does this reduce your braking effectiveness, but it can also cause serious damage to your rotors and calipers. This issue requires immediate attention to avoid putting yourself and others at risk. 2. What Causes a Whining Sound When Accelerating? Another concerning sound is a high-pitched whine when you step on the gas. The culprit could be a number of things, such as a failing transmission, worn-out drive belts, or power steering issues. This sound usually gets louder as the engine revs, and ignoring it can lead to expensive repairs. It's best to have a certified technician inspect your vehicle to diagnose and fix the problem before it worsens. 3. Why is My Car Clunking or Banging Over Bumps? If you hear a loud clunk or bang every time you drive over a bump or pothole, your suspension system might be compromised. Worn-out struts, shocks, or control arms can cause these sounds. Not only do these components affect your ride comfort, but they’re also crucial for safe handling. A clunky suspension shouldn’t be ignored, being that it directly affects your vehicle’s safety and performance. 4. Why is There Squealing Under the Hood of My Car? A squealing noise that comes from under the hood, especially when starting the engine or accelerating, often points to a loose or worn serpentine belt. This belt powers many of your engine’s components, including the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. If it breaks, you could lose all those systems at once, which is not a fun scenario on a busy highway. 5. What Causes Humming or Buzzing While Driving? A constant humming or buzzing sound while driving could be tire-related. It might indicate uneven tire wear, a wheel bearing going bad, or issues with tire balance or alignment. If your car sounds like it's humming more than usual, it’s time for a tire and alignment check. These issues are relatively simple to fix if caught early. Local Help You Can Count On Whether you’re hearing one of these noises or something else entirely, the best course of action is to have your car inspected by professionals. If you're near Nashville, Mazda servicing near Nashville through Wyatt Johnson Mazda ensures your vehicle is diagnosed and repaired by factory-trained experts who understand your vehicle inside and out. And if you're due for an oil change in Clarksville, ignoring it could cause engine noise, decreased performance, or even engine failure. Routine maintenance like oil changes, brake inspections, and belt replacements can prevent the scariest car noises from ever starting. Don’t Wait Until It Gets Worse It’s tempting to turn up the radio and hope the noise goes away, but that rarely ends well. Strange car sounds are usually a warning that something needs attention — and quickly. From brake grinding to whining acceleration, early detection can save you thousands in repairs and keep your vehicle safe on the road.
